Diving Deeper:

Future Forward, a prominent Democratic superPAC, is gearing up to launch a $50 million advertising campaign to introduce Vice President Kamala Harris as the likely Democratic nominee. The campaign is strategically planned ahead of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), which starts on August 19.

“We’re ready to hit the ground running to make sure voters know that Kamala Harris will be a President that fights for them,” said Chauncey McLean, president of Future Forward.

The campaign, set to run over the next few weeks, aims to familiarize voters with Harris. Notably, half of the ad investment will focus on low-information voters tuning in for the Olympics. This initiative complements a previously scheduled $250 million digital and television ad investment starting in September.

However, despite the vigorous campaign efforts, concerns remain regarding the Republicans' significant advertising advantage.

Starting Sunday, the ads will portray Harris positively, highlighting her career milestones. They will emphasize her tenure as a district attorney who protected children from sexual predators, her role as an attorney general who stood up to big banks, and her efforts as a senator to defend women's rights. The ads will also highlight her vice-presidential achievements, including her push to cap insulin prices at $35 a month.

In tandem with this ad blitz, the Harris campaign released its first video on Thursday, centered on rights and freedom, set to Beyonce’s song “Freedom.” In the video, Harris poses a question to voters about the kind of country they aspire to live in, underscoring her commitment to safeguarding freedoms and rights.
