WEBSTER, N.Y. — Friday marks 30 years since Kelley Gaffield was last seen in the town of Webster.

Kelley Gaffield went missing on August 8, 1995. Her body was discovered two months later in a wooded area in Webster. Despite efforts over the past two decades, Gaffield’s cause of death was never discovered.

On Oct. 22, 1995, Kelley was found dead by a hunter.

News10NBC spoke with Gaffield’s family in 2023, and they have their suspicions about what happened.

“I believe that probably it was more than one person out there,” her family member said. “I believe without saying names that she was looking for a specific person and then everything went the wrong way. I think she was attacked. I would have to guess she was raped and I think her life was ended. Whether it was accidental or on purpose I don’t know.”

Investigators think that Gaffield may have been assaulted and killed where she was found.
